The original photographs, the internal databases and the inventories of the catalogued photographic heritage can be consulted in the reading room of the Civic Photographic Archive by appointment and after following the specific instructions.
The photographes of our heritage that have been so far digitalized are available in low resolution on this site and can be freely download The digital images of the Institute's photographs on the Fotografieincomune website, in low resolution, can be downloaded for free for personal, study and general non-profit cultural purposes (in accordance with the law 124/2017). However the credit must always be given to the author and the property to collections' owners or curators by including the attribution details next to the image.
To request the digital images of our photographs:

you must fill in the form below, while considering the following conditions:
Digital copies of photographs which depict works of art will only be granted after the user has obtained the relative authorisation from the Institute that possesses these works and has sent it to the Civic Photographic Archive.
Digital copies of photographs belonging to collections on loan for use, deposited or belonging to contemporary photographers will be granted only after obtaining the relevant authorisation from the owners, which will be requested by the Institute itself; a similar procedure shall be followed for images containing sensitive data or protected by copyright, even if exercised by heirs, in accordance with the regulations in force.
If the payment of reproduction rights is due, the relative amounts will be communicated to the user after the request for the images has been sent to the Institute. The requested images will then be sent to the user for the specified use only upon receiving via email (C.CRAAIFotografico@comune.milano.it) a copy of the receipt of payment.
Privacy The Civic Photographic Archive, offers users the possibility to interact with its search engine Fotografieincomune to consult or use its services in compliance with the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Copyright The Municipality of Milan and the authors have sole ownership of writings, texts, editorials, contents, documents, images, extracts published herein. Use is protected by copyright legislation and by municipal resolution.
Filling in the image request form entails the subsequent acquisition of the personal data entered, which are necessary to respond to requests.
Users’ personal data are used only to perform the service or provision requested.
